Concrete for Slack
An AI teammate that lives in your Slack channel
Concrete joins the channels you pick, introduces itself and learns how your team works by talking with you. It answers questions, follows up on what people promised, writes canvases and keeps working between messages. Each workspace gets its own private machine.
How it works in Slack
- Mention it or message it. Ask in its channel or a thread there, or tag it in any other channel it's in. The person who added it can also message it directly. It answers where you asked.
- It reads the channel it's in. So it knows the context, remembers decisions and follows up without being asked twice.
- It shows its work. A reaction on your message while it's working, then the answer in the thread; longer write-ups go in a canvas.
- It keeps working between messages. Reminders it was asked for and follow-ups it promised arrive on time, in the same thread.
Adding it
- 1. Add to Slack. Sign in with the Slack account you work in and add a card: you start with free credits, and nothing is charged until you pick a plan. Approve the permissions below on Slack's screen, then pick the channels Concrete joins on your account page. In a private channel, send /invite @Concrete.
- 2. It says hello. It sends you a direct message right away, and within a couple of minutes it tells you it's set up. Tell it what you're working on, or hand it something you'd rather not deal with, and it gets to work.
- 3. Pick a plan. $20 a month for 200 credits, or $100 a month for 1,000; unused credits carry over. Run out mid-month and the bigger plan brings it back. Change or cancel any time from your account.
What it can access, and why
Concrete asks only for what it uses.
- Messages in channels it's in, public and private. To read the conversation and answer (channels:history, channels:read, groups:history, groups:read, app_mentions:read, metadata.message:read).
- Joining the channels you pick. Concrete joins only the public channels you pick on your account page (channels:join); private ones you invite it to yourself.
- Direct and group messages to it. So you can ask it things one-to-one (im:history, im:read, im:write, mpim:history, mpim:read).
- Posting. Its answers, as Concrete (chat:write).
- Canvases and files. Writing longer answers as canvases and reading files you share with it (canvases:read, canvases:write, files:read, files:write).
- Reactions. Showing it's working on a message, and reading the reactions on its own messages (reactions:read, reactions:write).
- People's names. So its answers address people by name (users:read).
- Slack's AI assistant panel. So you can talk to it from Slack's assistant view (assistant:write).
Removing it
In Slack: workspace settings, Manage apps, Concrete, Remove app. The agent stops at once; its machine, memory and Slack token are deleted 30 days later.
